北京文化节活动概况

　　在中国与澳大利亚建交三十周年、北京与堪培拉建立友好城市两周年之际，北京市人民政府将于2002年9月在澳大利亚的悉尼、堪培拉和新西兰的惠灵顿三个城市举办“北京文化节”活动。北京摄影展、京剧表演、民乐演出、文化广场活动等一系列精彩内容，将为澳大利亚和新西兰的公众展现千年古都神秘面纱下的丰富内涵，促进北京与澳大利亚和新西兰城市友好关系的进一步发展，为北京在大洋洲开辟更为广阔的合作空间。

Introduction of Beijing Culture Festival

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Australia and between China and New Zealand, the 2nd anniversary of the establishment of sister-city relationship between Beijing and Canberra, Beijing Municipality will hold a “Beijing Culture Festival” in September of 2002 in Sydney, Canberra of Australia and Wellington of New Zealand. The photographic exhibition, performance of Peking Opera and folk music and cultural activities on squares will make Beijing better known to the people of Australia and New Zealand and promote the friendship between Beijing and the cities in Australia and New Zealand. Through the festival, Beijing will have a broader cooperation area with Oceanian countries.
